Home from the 'Peg
Just got in from an amazing weekend with my classmates in Winnipeg. Of the 8 of us who are doing Northern placements, 7 of us converged on Shawn's parents' house for Easter weekend. It was an amazing chance to see a city I've never seen before, and to check in with my classmates to see how everyone's Northern experience has been. I'll hopefully be posting pictures in the next couple of days, since a couple of people brought their digital cameras.
It came at the right time, as I was definitely starting to experience some cabin fever. I had sushi. I had Starbucks. I knitted. I partied. Miss Bedora is a happy girl.
Even happier when she came home to a spic and span house courtesy of James, who also hid Easter Eggs all around the house. I think he missed us!
Now I'm geared up for my last two weeks up in the frosty North.
Coming up:
-Dogsleddding. I'm so excited about this one! Yes, the city girl you know and love will be mushing along behind a team of dogs through the Northern wilderness. There will be 7 of us going on the trip, including my roommates Amanda and James, our classmate Leigh who is doing a placement in Fort Francis, Shawn whose house we stayed at in Winnipeg, and 2 second year physio students who are doing placements with Shawn in Kenora. It should be a great time, and stay tuned for lots of pictures. Some of the people will for sure be bringing digital cameras.
-Dinner with Denise, a knitter and blog reader who lives in Sioux Lookout, a town about 1 hour away from Dryden. Can't wait to meet you Denise!
-A return trip to the local sheep farm to do some more shopping and to see the baby lambs and other animals they have at their petting zoo.
-Maybe Glow Bowling, a social event run by the hospital.
-Trying to figure out how to cram all the stuff I brought with me, plus the stuff that I've mysteriously accumulated while I've been here, into 2 tiny suitcases.
Knitting update:
Up to the decreases on Clapotis. This scarf is turning out even better than I expected, and I think blocking will greatly improve the appearance of the dropped stitches. Right now they're looking a little wavy. Hopefully I'll be finished it in the next couple of days, and I can either start something with the Arucania wool that Dani sent me in my care package, or start a project I've had on the back burned for a number of months. A pair of 2-colour mittens that have a super soft knitted lining.
