Back in Prague
As weird as it sounds, coming back to Prague almost feels like coming home. I know my way around, I can figure out the money, I know how the metro works. Its nice for a change!
Last night I was totally exhausted, and contemplating staying in for the night since I had to get up early to catch an 8:30 am train. But then I figured, hell no, this is my only chance to go out in Bratislava, what is the point of me being here if I am not going to enjoy it. So I went out to a club called the Metropolitan Music Club with two German girls from the hostel named Patricia and Jana. There was no room at the hostel when they arrived, so they had been camping in the back yard! So, needless to say, they were very cool girls.
The best part about the Metropolitan Music Club was that it was a block away from our hostel, and it was supposed to be no tourists, only local Slovaks. It turned out to be a fun night, although the DJ kept coming on the mic and saying "hey party people," if you can visualize what kind of place it was. If you cant, ignorance is bliss. It was also interesting because most of the people were drinking out of giant buckets with about 20 straws in them. Turned out to be Sangria.
Dont worry, I stuck to the much safer, not to mention more sanitary, gin and tonics. It was the only thing the bartender could make. At first I asked for a vodka soda and he gave me a shot of vodka and a bottle of mineral water with a straw in it. I called him back and asked him for a glass to mix them in, and some lime, which they sadly didnt have.
Oh, and some of my Slovak came in handy. Namely "Daj me pokoy." You will have to look that one up :)
It was a fairly early night though, home and in bed at 1, after giving Spike a call for the first time of the trip. Someone gave me a Slovak phone card that they hadnt used up.
This morning I got the train to Prague, which took about 5 hours. Then, I got to reunite with Sarah and her friend from Frankfurt. They had found us a place to stay, so I dropped my back, and we just spent a couple of hours at my favourite tea house. I love that place.
The two girls went and did some sightseeing, and my job is to sort out transportation to Cesky Krumlov for tomorrow. I also have some shopping to do. We will be meeting for dinner later.
Cesky Krumlov is supposed to be beautiful. A small medeval town with lots of outdoors stuff to do, and a river to float down on innertubes. Sarah and her friend havent decided for certain to come with me, they might just stay in Prague. We shall see.
Dani: thanks for checking out my apartment. Glad to hear there havent been any alligators moving in or anything.
Mom: Thanks for the awesome message. Cant wait to get you on the phone and have a real long gab. Thank you for the offer, but I think I am going to go and stay with Vera for my last night here. Perfect way to end the trip I think! As nice as a posh hotel would be....

Sounds like you're having a nice, long trip! I wouldn't want to share a big bucket of Sangria with 20 strangers either-good choice on the disguting gin and tonic or whatever it was you had instead ;-)
My parents are currently showing their Czech pictures to their friends, so I remembered to check in here!

Once again, I forgot to post my name! (Danielle R). Sorry about the double msg. above as well. I wish I knew how to delete one!
Enjoy Cesky Krumlov! My parents just told me you absolutely have to go on a tour of the baroque theatre in the castle there as it is one of the only surviving baroque theatres in the world.
hey kiddo, this is your pa...we have enjoyed your blog every day, and thank you so much for the effort you've made to share your experiences.
We are all fine, getting ready to resume the rat-race of school and work and bag lunches: summer is just too short!!
Can't wait to have you back on our side of the briny. Enjoy your last days abroad.
Love, Dad
