Rushing off again
Hi all,
Don't have long to write..I just spent all my internet time trying to sort out accomodation for Slovenia. It's hard when plans change last minute!
I just got back from the most hedonistic breakfast of my life. It was at a chocolaterie called Aztec. You know the patisserie in the movie "Chocolat"? It was exactly like that. I had a chili hot chocolate to drink that was pretty much liquified chocolate with chili powder, and a chocolate croissant that was bascially a croissant filled with chocolate and then dipped in chocolate. So I'm buzzing pretty nicely right now.
It was the perfect breakfast to follow the night I had last night. A bunch of us went to this giant open-air disco down by the Danube. There were 2 dance floors with different djs, a swimming pool, bars all over the place, and it was all outside! And no cover charge, and cheap drinks. SO much fun. We got there at about 11, and could have stayed until 6 am, but we called it quits at around 3:30.
Yesterday I had my second experience at the baths. This time I had a massage and a pedicure as well as experiencing all the thermal baths, steam rooms and saunas. The massage was amazing, but I had to stand in a corridor with no top on while the masseuse walked over and chatted with her friend before the massage started. I at least had my bottoms on, which is more that I can say for many of the patrons of the bath...most of them rather large and elderly hungarian women. Definitely an experience!
I also managed to do a little shopping yesterday. I can't express how sick I am of the clothes I brought with me. You can only wear one dirty t-shirt so many times before you just want to scream. So I got a cute sun dress and a nice top, and a very adorable striped bikini that is an absoulte necessity now that I'm going to be going down to the beach in Slovenia. You may wonder how I'm going to fit new clothes in an already bulging backpack...well, I hate to say it, but some of the clothes I brought are going to be living out the rest of their lives in Eastern Europe.
Another cool thing that's happened is that my friend Sarah from Germany is going to be meeting me in Prague at the end of my trip. She was my exchange partner in high school, and I haven't seen her since I was 17. I'm so happy we've kept in touch though, and it's going to be great to see her.
This afternoon I'm going to go on a walking tour of Budapest, since I haven't actually managed to see any SIGHTS in this great city. The baths and the clubs have been great, but I should at least make an effort to learn some of the history and see some of the attractions.
Tonight, our last night in Budapest, we're going to check out a bar called Wall Street, where you bid on drinks and prices fluctuate based on demand. Sounds like a good time!
Sorry f0r the scattered feel of this post...I'm high on chili chocolate. Big hugs to all.

ewww...naked old ladies
Hi Laura, don't listen to Dani, I'm old and I take my clothes off sometimes, besides if you run into those old ladies again what are they going to say? "Didn't recognize you with your clothes on!" Love Gail.
Hi Laura!
I found your journal again! Hurrah!
How could I not have known you went on exchange to Germany? I did too and my exchange partner was ALSO named Sara! However, we didn't keep in touch :-( as she never kept in touch with anyone-on her last day at my house she started writing letters and postcards to her close family back home upon realizing that she had totally cut them off for 3 months!
That chocolate cafe sounds FABULOUS! I'll have to go to Hungary just to go somewhere like that....or maybe somebody will have to start a similar business in Toronto?

Sorry, I forgot my name didn't show up automatically. That last post was from me (Danielle R).
